Four Seasons series
Michiko Theurer has served as artistic partner of the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival of Eastern North Carolina since 2006. Each year, a series of watercolors created for the festival is featured at concerts and in publicity materials.
Current season (2018-2019)
The 2018-2019 painting series refracts themes of color and gesture from six earlier paintings (Ciaccona, Ring, Cathedral, Fountain, Sunburst, and Aqua Fortis) in six new abstract landscapes (Canopies, House of Light, Nomi's Garden, Lyre, Prism, and Plains). The final painting, Rose Window, is a free improvisation between rhythm and light. Each painting is 22"x30".
Four Seasons paintings are $800/each and are available for purchase beginning February 1, 2019 on a first-come, first-served basis. To purchase a painting or set up a viewing, contact Four Seasons at [email protected] or 252-328-6019.
Previous season (2017-2018)
The 2017-2018 Four Seasons paintings explore flowers and plant forms through rhythmic patterns. Each painting began through dynamic gestures based on the profile of a different type of flower, and then built into more definite forms as the composition developed.

2016-2017 season
The 2016-2017 series explores the boundary between subject and medium. Some paintings straddle the line between abstraction and representation, while others explore the edges between the unmarked paper and painted figure. Inspiration for the paintings is drawn from the rhythms and images in the writings of Virginia Woolf.
